Did you know..

Only 41% of WordPress websites are currently using the latest version of WordPress, so what does this say in terms of WordPress security?!

Why does that matter?

This means 59% of WordPress websites are using old, vulnerable versions of the CMS. It’s important to know. This data doesn’t even include all of the outdated plugins or theme updates! A lot of people won’t touch their updates because of fear. Purely because updating can on occasionally cause conflicts. Conflicts often occur with other extensions and plugins (but guess what – that’s what we’re here for!).

WordPress Security Issues

What does this all mean? Well. Software and CMS systems such as WordPress are constantly on the ball. If a vulnerability in the code is found somewhere, or a new way of attacking the CMS has been discovered by the many experienced developers at WordPress HQ or by the community – the software is updated straight away with the fix. Voila.

As technology changes month on month and new devices and browser updates are released, it’s important to understand your website needs to grow along with your software. So as you can see, if updates don’t happen you can wave goodbye to a long-term, fully functioning website. One of the easiest ways to prevent your website from being targeted and successfully hacked is by keeping it up-to-date and properly maintained. If you have the technical expertise and time to do so, great. If not it’s wise to find either a developer you trust or a specialist WordPress company to do this for you.
